12x24 Marble-look porcelain floor over a stripped slab

We removed the existing ceramic tile and carpet as part of the client’s suite remodel and prepared the concrete slab for the new installation. Because the concrete had some existing cracks, we applied MAPEI Mapelastic CI Crack Isolation Membrane to help reduce the risk of crack transfer through the new tile. We then installed 12x24 Trinity Milos Calacatta porcelain tile using premium thinset mortar and a tile leveling system to minimize lippage and achieve a clean, even finish.

The problem
The client was remodeling the suite, including the lobby area, and wanted to replace the existing ceramic tile and carpet with a new, modern porcelain tile floor.
Preparation
After removing the existing ceramic tile and carpet, we exposed the concrete slab. The concrete had some existing cracks that required additional preparation before the new tile installation.
Waterproofing: None, waterproofing was not required for this installation.
Installation
We properly prepared the concrete substrate and applied MAPEI Mapelastic CI Crack Isolation Membrane over the cracked areas to help reduce the risk of cracks transferring through the new tile. The 12x24 porcelain tile was installed using premium thinset mortar, along with tile leveling spacers to keep the tiles flush, minimize lippage, and achieve a clean, even surface.
