Is LVP really waterproof?

The plank itself is, and that is what makes it work in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements. What is not waterproof is the seam and the subfloor beneath: standing water that sits long enough still finds its way through the joints. LVP survives a spill or a dishwasher leak; it is not a substitute for a waterproof membrane in a shower.

LVP or tile: which should I install?

LVP costs less, goes down faster and is warmer and softer underfoot. Tile lasts longer, adds more resale value and is the only right answer in a shower or any area with a floor drain. In a kitchen, living room or basement either works. We quote both when you are undecided so the comparison is on paper.

Click-lock floating or glue-down?

Accepted Answer

Floating click-lock is faster and cleaner to install, needs no adhesive and is the usual choice for a home renovation. Glue-down is more stable underfoot and holds up better in commercial spaces and high-traffic areas. The subfloor condition often decides it, and we tell you which one your floor actually calls for.

Does the subfloor need to be perfectly flat?

Flatter than most people expect. LVP is thin and flexible, so a dip or hump telegraphs through and eventually stresses the seams. We inspect concrete, plywood or the existing floor at the estimate and price any leveling as its own line, so it is not a surprise once the old floor is up.

Can LVP go over my existing floor?

Sometimes. A sound, flat, well-bonded floor can stay in place, which saves both demolition cost and the debris. Cushioned vinyl, loose tile, damaged laminate or anything with a moisture problem has to come out. We check it during the measure and tell you which case you are in before you commit to a price.
